DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit)

Overview

The Mechanic - Rail Control Support position involves performing rebuilds, repairs, and inspections of Light Rail Vehicle systems for the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Fleet Services Division. The role requires technical skills in mechanical maintenance and a commitment to safety and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Perform rebuilds and repairs to Light Rail Vehicle systems including propulsion, brakes, HVAC, and electrical systems.
• Overhaul systems and sub-systems of the vehicle such as brake actuators and air conditioning compressors.
• Promote established safety, training, and quality assurance programs.
• Ensure the work area is clean.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associates degree or certification from an accredited technical program in electrical, electronic, or equivalent experience in heavy electro-mechanical maintenance.
• Must pass a technical test.
• Must obtain and maintain certification(s) in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Valid Drivers License class C with specific driving record requirements.
• Must pass a physical examination and comply with random alcohol and drug testing.
• Proficiency with personal computers and MS Office applications.
• Ability to promote a positive and inclusive work culture.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact effectively under pressure.
• Ability to work variable shifts and travel to multiple work locations.
• Ability to lift objects weighing up to seventy pounds and work in crowded spaces.
