Overview
The Shop Service Technician 4 is responsible for performing inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of diesel-powered heavy equipment and related components, ensuring customer satisfaction and departmental goals. This role involves both mechanical services and painting tasks in a shop environment, requiring independent work as well as teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of diesel-powered heavy equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and failures.
- Disassemble and assemble machine components to manufacturer's specifications.
- Rebuild, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
- Demonstrate good customer relations and communicate customer needs to management.
- Plan and control cost of repair jobs.
- Complete parts orders and identify parts for return.
- Mentor and train others in task and behavior-oriented skills.
- Maintain all equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
- Work safely and adhere to all safety policies and company standards.
- Perform painting and sandblasting of heavy equipment.
- Operate painting or coating tools to improve equipment appearance.
- Straighten body panels and fenders, and fill small dents.
- Complete necessary paperwork for timely invoicing.
- Maintain and control company property and resources.
- Dispose of hazardous waste appropriately.
- Complete special projects as requested by the department supervisor.
