Overview

The Shop Service Technician 4 is responsible for performing inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of diesel-powered heavy equipment and related components, ensuring customer satisfaction and departmental goals. This role involves both mechanical services and painting tasks in a shop environment, requiring independent work as well as teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of diesel-powered heavy equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and failures.
  • Disassemble and assemble machine components to manufacturer's specifications.
  • Rebuild, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
  • Demonstrate good customer relations and communicate customer needs to management.
  • Plan and control cost of repair jobs.
  • Complete parts orders and identify parts for return.
  • Mentor and train others in task and behavior-oriented skills.
  • Maintain all equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Work safely and adhere to all safety policies and company standards.
  • Perform painting and sandblasting of heavy equipment.
  • Operate painting or coating tools to improve equipment appearance.
  • Straighten body panels and fenders, and fill small dents.
  • Complete necessary paperwork for timely invoicing.
  • Maintain and control company property and resources.
  • Dispose of hazardous waste appropriately.
  • Complete special projects as requested by the department supervisor.
