Overview
The Equipment Mechanic II position involves scheduling, tracking, and completing repair and preventive maintenance work in the equipment repair shop while providing direction and training to assigned employees. This role requires a high school diploma, relevant experience, and a valid Georgia driver's license.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
- Promotes good relations and displays a positive image with customers, the public, and peers.
- Provides direction to assigned Maintenance Helper and/or Equipment Mechanic I to ensure all assigned tasks are completed promptly and accurately.
- Provides periodic 24 hours a day, seven days a week on-call support.
- Operates and maintains the Department's heavy and light equipment, as well as vehicles.
- Ensures assigned equipment repair work is accurately completed in a timely manner.
- Implements, designs, and builds tools as required.
- Performs welding on minor fabrication projects.
- Completes and submits all paperwork for computerized maintenance database.
- Maintains the proper inventory of materials in the shop.
- Takes proper care and maintains vehicles, all tools, and equipment necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position.
- Plans and stages all materials, supplies, and equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks and projects.
- Initiates and completes assigned projects in a timely and accurate manner.
- Reports immediately any issues that may impact school or employee safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or HSE required.
- Valid Georgia driver's license; CDL endorsement preferred.
- 2 years of experience in repair of light and heavy lawn equipment.
- Routine physical activities including walking, standing, kneeling, negotiating stairs and ladders, and lifting and transporting 75 pounds over short distances.
- Written and oral communication skills.

- Knowledgeable and proficient in all aspects of the operation and repair of heavy and light maintenance department equipment and vehicles.
