Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder to join our manufacturing team and work on transformers. The Welder is responsible for assembling and welding metal components used in power and distribution transformers, ensuring high-quality and precise builds.
Responsibilities
- Weld and assemble transformer components including tanks, radiators, conservators, and structural parts.
- Use MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding techniques based on material and project requirements.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications.
- Ensure proper fit-up and alignment of welded parts using jigs, clamps, and measuring tools.
- Perform grinding, cutting, and surface preparation prior to and after welding.
- Conduct pre-weld and post-weld inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Repair cracks, leaks, or damage on transformer tanks or components as required.
- Operate hand tools, overhead cranes, forklifts, and other shop equipment safely.
- Maintain welding equipment and tools provided by the organization.
- Communicate with engineering, quality, and production teams regarding design changes.
- Support continuous improvement efforts.
- Follow all safety protocols including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly workstation.
- Perform other assigned duties as needed.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of welding experience required.
- Air arc gouging, plasma cutting, and stud gun experience preferred.
- Proven experience in welding oil or liquid filled tanks preferred.
- Complete and pass pre-employment and annual respiratory fit testing in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Proficient in welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick) on mild and stainless steel.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, engineering drawings, and welding symbols.
- Knowledge of ASME or AWS welding codes is a plus.
- AWS Certified Welder (or equivalent) preferred.
- A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
- Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations set by the organization.
- Meet department and production goals set by supervisor.
- Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations.
- Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to learn other department job functions and fill in as needed.
- Complete company compliance and safety training when required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.

Additional Information
- Work hours are Monday-Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm.
- Physical requirements include lifting 50lbs, standing and walking for long durations, and working in non-climate-controlled environments.
