Overview
The TIG Welder position involves the fabrication and assembly of customer-specified enclosures using TIG welding techniques on materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel. The role requires precision and adherence to safety regulations while working in a fast-paced fabrication shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret specifications and blueprints.
- Lay out, fit, or connect parts to be welded, calculating production measurements as necessary.
- Set up and operate welding machines to fabricate metal products or assemblies.
- Troubleshoot welding equipment problems.
- Assemble, align, and clamp workpieces into holding fixtures to weld fabricated metal components according to design and specifications.
- Inspect, measure, or test completed metal workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications using measuring and testing devices.
- Work with overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Perform other shop duties such as cutting, assembly, or kitting when needed.
- Ensure safety, quality, and production processes are followed; use required PPE and safely operate welding machines and tools.
- Ensure that all cleaning and maintenance schedules are completed and maintained to promote a safe and efficient work environment.
- Demonstrate a willingness to cross train and assist in other shop functions as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate various TIG welded joints.
- MIG welding ability.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Trade school certificate in welding is a plus.
- Minimum of two years of experience preferred.
