Overview

Compass Systems is seeking a 2nd Shift Welder/Fitter/Fabricator for their Barberton, Ohio location. The role involves fitting, welding, and cleaning weldments into finished parts while working Monday to Friday from 3:30pm to 1:00am.

Responsibilities

• Drive forklift to move parts into and out of work area.
• Safely rig and move parts with overhead crane.
• Read detailed blueprints and follow instructions.
• Layout, fit, and weld metal parts to hit critical dimensions.
• Weld in all positions with mig, stick, and tig.
• Check proper wire, gas, and machine settings on welder.
• Repair or modify existing or refurbished parts.
• Maintain and use oxygen/acetylene torch and hand plasma cutter.
• Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
• Preheat workpiece with torch.
• Safely use and maintain hand tools (Grinders, air motors, porta-power, clamps, etc.).
• Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or spatter.
• Show up on time and work scheduled hours.
• Take direction and work well with others.
• Perform other duties as assigned and work overtime when needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous welding experience.
• Comfortable welding 22ga – ¾” thick steel or stainless steel.
• Motivated individual with ability to work independently.
• Demonstrates positive safety attitude.
• Ability to identify problems and inform supervisor.
• Ability to stand for 9 or more hours and lift up to 75 lbs.

Additional Information

• 2nd Shift: 3:30pm - 1:00am Monday - Friday.
• Every other Friday off.
• 9/80 Work Schedule - 9 hour days - Off every other Thursday.
