Overview
The Welder (Repair) position involves welding shell plating and fabricated components according to specifications for vessels and structural assemblies. The role requires previous experience or training in welding and offers a pay scale ranging from $33.76 to $37.11 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Welds parts in position for fabrication of vessels, tanks or other structural assemblies.
- Uses carbon electrodes to cut, shape and groove metal.
- May prepare workplace for welding by cleaning and/or preheating.
- Examines weld sizes of weld beads.
- Cleans weld area; sweeps and removes scrap.
- Performs other job duties as may be assigned relevant to the trade.
Requirements
- Previous experience or training in welding is required.
- Must be able to qualify in two gas shielded FCAW welding processes 71T-1 and 811N3 in three positions.
- Knowledge of welding characteristics of metal.
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must comprehend written and verbal instructions in English.
- Must be able to hear warning signals and read safety instructions.
