Overview
The Welder I position at RTX involves working on the Operations Team to repair jet engine components. This role requires U.S. citizenship and offers an opportunity to contribute to the aerospace and defense industry.
Responsibilities
- Plan and perform hand fusion, machine welding or other associated metal joining processes.
- Work from drawings, sketches, welding machine schedules, and verbal and written instructions.
- Make required settings to equipment, gas flow, and other parameters to obtain quality welds.
- Prepare parts for welding, align and secure details.
- Operate computer-controlled welding equipment and manipulate hand welding torch.
- Utilize X-Ray film or black light process to determine extent of repairs required.
- Use measuring instruments to check dimensions and record results.
- Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures.
- Maintain appropriate metal joining certifications.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- 1+ years of related experience or a completed degree/certificate in a related field.
- Certify and maintain a welding certification in a minimum of two metal groups.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Flexibility around shifts, including overtime.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.
