Overview
Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions used to produce advanced chips and displays. They are seeking a Welder II for the swing shift in Austin, TX, who will be responsible for operating various welding equipment and ensuring quality in their work.
Responsibilities
- Operate TIG, MIG, and Oxy Acetylene welding equipment and common shop tools.
- Train Welder I.
- Read and understand engineering drawings.
- Use measuring equipment such as tape measures and calipers.
- Cut stock for welded assemblies using shop measuring equipment.
- Fabricate simple welded assemblies and frame assemblies.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area and handle tools properly.
- Conform to departmental safety requirements.
Requirements
- Proficient in operating welding equipment and common shop tools.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Advanced skills in using measuring equipment.
- Physically capable of performing demanding tasks including standing for long periods and lifting.
- Ability to distinguish between colors and work in noisy environments.
- Use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
