Overview

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions used to produce advanced chips and displays. They are seeking a Welder II for the swing shift in Austin, TX, who will be responsible for operating various welding equipment and ensuring quality in their work.

Responsibilities

  • Operate TIG, MIG, and Oxy Acetylene welding equipment and common shop tools.
  • Train Welder I.
  • Read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Use measuring equipment such as tape measures and calipers.
  • Cut stock for welded assemblies using shop measuring equipment.
  • Fabricate simple welded assemblies and frame assemblies.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and handle tools properly.
  • Conform to departmental safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Proficient in operating welding equipment and common shop tools.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Advanced skills in using measuring equipment.
  • Physically capable of performing demanding tasks including standing for long periods and lifting.
  • Ability to distinguish between colors and work in noisy environments.
  • Use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
