Overview

General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC (GA-SI) is a provider of military and commercial engineering services, specializing in systems integration technologies and reliability improvements. The Field Avionics Technician role involves operating UAVs and providing technical support for avionics and electronic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate UAV, ground control stations, and ground support equipment.
  • Analyze customer requirements and evaluate product implementation.
  • Provide technical support on installation, configuration, application, and repair of products and systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of ground and airborne electronic equipment.
  • Determine technical solutions to moderately complex problems.
  • Repair or replace components based on various technical documents and instructions.
  • Perform installation, configuration, and testing of computer hardware, software, and networked systems.
  • Diagnose and correct malfunctions as required.
  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on systems.
  • Maintain required records and forms according to specifications.
  • Validate and verify accuracy of technical documents and procedures.
  • Recommend changes to technical documents based on system knowledge.
  • Fabricate, install, troubleshoot, and repair wire harnesses and assemblies.
  • Ensure proper routing and clamping of wire harnesses.
  • Represent the group with internal and external customers.
  • Conduct training and practical instruction of peers and customers.
  • Observe all laws and regulations while conducting business.
  • Work in a safe manner according to established procedures.

Requirements

  • Education or formal training equivalent to a two-year technical degree or trade school equivalency.
  • Two or more years' experience in aviation or electronics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot at the component level.
  • Ability to analyze data and recommend solutions.
  • Considerable knowledge of electronic test equipment and hand tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Good analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience with maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing RF systems is desirable.
  • Experience with session layer protocol (TELNET) is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge in File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is desirable.
  • Certification in A+, Network+, and Security+ is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules in a 24/7 operational environment.
