Overview
Join the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) as a Maintenance Specialist II, where your contributions will positively impact the lives of Texans. This role involves performing routine maintenance and repair work in various building trades, supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair work under the guidance of experienced Maintenance Specialists.
- Conduct inspections, adjustments, and repairs on building systems according to recognized codes and standards.
- Use hand tools and power tools to perform necessary repairs, renovations, and installations.
- Accurately process and maintain records on work orders, projects, and material requisitions.
- May operate heavy machinery as necessary.
- Train others on proper procedures and methods for repairs or inspections.
- Participate in disaster response and recovery efforts as required.
Requirements
- High School graduate, GED, or relevant work experience in building maintenance.
- Knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing, HVAC, sanitation, refrigeration, and electrical systems.
- Skill in preventive maintenance and inspections of buildings and building systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Must possess a valid Texas driver's license or obtain it within 90 days of hire.
