Overview
The Machine Operator 1 (MO1) position at Loram is a field-based role responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing railway maintenance and inspection equipment. The operator will work with various types of equipment platforms and is expected to adhere to safety protocols while performing their duties.
Responsibilities
- Lead job briefings during operations and maintenance shifts.
- Follow safe work processes, procedures, and rules consistently.
- Explain on track safety specifics when asked.
- Locate all emergency equipment and demonstrate correct operation.
- Conduct machine inspections to identify problems and communicate conditions.
- Record and report common parts used to supervisor.
- Perform maintenance and repairs according to set schedules and policies.
- Describe gauge and HMI functions related to machine operation.
- Document and complete daily field reporting and other administrative tasks.
Requirements
- 3+ months experience working with Loram equipment or equivalent in a 24/7 environment.
- 2+ years demonstrated technical skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and machine operations.
- 2+ years demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Maintain Railroad Certifications, CPR/First Aid, and a valid Driver’s License.
- 1+ year experience as a Heavy equipment operator (Backhoe, Excavator, etc.).
- Basic administration computer skills and working knowledge of data systems.
