Overview

American Rheinmetall is a leader in the design, development, and production of advanced tracked and wheeled vehicles, vehicle systems, and critical components that support U.S. military modernization. The Welder role involves laying out, fabricating, and welding components and parts for various projects using knowledge of welding techniques and metallurgy.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications.
  • Tack-weld or weld components, assemblies, molds, or equipment using various welding equipment.
  • Cut materials using torch, power saws, hand shears, grinders, or chipping knives.
  • Use tools, machines, and welding equipment to repair and fabricate items of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Remove rough spots from parts using grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
  • Heat, form, and dress metal parts using hand tools or welding equipment.
  • Ignite torch and adjust valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
  • Develop templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
  • Determine required equipment and welding method based on metallurgy and welding techniques.
  • Weld and repair various metal components and equipment.
  • Maintain a safe working environment while complying with safety rules and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including design, uses, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles with blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of metals, methods, tools, equipment, materials, and safety protocols used in welding.
  • Knowledge of using hand tools such as drills, grinders, benders, and shears.
  • Must have a welders certificate from an accredited program.
