Overview

A Welder is responsible for joining metal parts using welding techniques and equipment, fabricating and maintaining structures, and ensuring adherence to specifications and safety standards. GDIT is a global technology and professional services company that delivers consulting, technology, and mission services to every major agency across the U.S. government, defense, and intelligence community.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and execute blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to fabricate products.
  • Weld components using methods such as MIG, TIG, SMAW, or flux-cored arc welding.
  • Operate welding equipment and related tools.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment, ensuring safe operations.
  • Assess welded joints for precision and adherence to specifications.
  • Identify and repair weld defects using grinding and cutting tools.
  • Adhere to all workplace safety standards and protocols.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Identify areas for process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Participate in training and certifications to stay updated with industry practices.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 3+ years of experience with Fabrication and Welding Aluminum.
  • Ability to obtain Secret security clearance.
  • US Citizenship Required.
  • Training or certification in welding techniques (e.g., AWS certification).
  • Familiarity with fabrication tools and machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation.
  • Proficient understanding of metallurgy and materials science.
