Overview
The Welders position at Metalcraft of Mayville involves operating welding machines or industrial robots to fabricate metal parts or assemblies according to specifications. Candidates should be available for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts and possess a basic knowledge of welding theory.
Responsibilities
- Lift work pieces manually or using a hoist and secure them in fixtures.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machine factors like wire feed speed and amperage.
- Start the machine, engage the feed, and observe operation.
- Inspect and measure machined work pieces for conformance to specifications.
- Adjust machine controls and guides as necessary.
- Unload welded frames from robotic welders and place them in containers.
- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts for welding.
- Remove rough spots from work pieces using grinders or hand files.
- Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Replace worn machine accessories such as cutting tools.
- File, sand, or shape machined parts.
- Maintain accurate counts of parts and label finished containers.
- Perform basic MIG and TIG welding techniques as needed.
- Maintain company quality, efficiency, and productivity standards.
- Read job specifications to determine welding and material requirements.
- Examine finished work pieces for conformance using inspection instruments.
- Report defective materials or conditions to the Robotic Welding Manager.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and machines.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow safety regulations.
- May perform other related duties as production needs require.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- FANUC Robotic Certification is desired.
- Certificate or degree in welding is preferred.
- At least one year of welding experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Successful completion of an internal welding test.
- Knowledge of welding equipment and tools, including design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of basic math skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents like blueprints and safety rules.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and vendors.
- Must be dependable.
Additional Information
- Availability on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.
- Regularly exposed to varying temperature conditions between 60-100 degrees Fahrenheit, loud noise, moving machinery parts, airborne particles, and fumes.
