Overview
SpaceX is actively developing technologies to enable human life on Mars. The Welder position involves various welding processes on structural materials for Starship launch hardware.
Responsibilities
- Weld using FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and GTAW processes on carbon, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Cut, trim, fit, and fabricate weldments to dimensions using standard welding tools and practices.
- Collaborate with lead welder to assess proper weld procedures and materials.
- Review engineering drawings to plan welding operations.
- Continuously improve operations and streamline work processes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- 1+ years of welding experience in a fabrication environment using FCAW or GTAW.
- 5+ years of professional experience in GTAW welding with SCH 10 stainless or carbon steel pipe.
- 5+ years of professional experience in FCAW welding with stainless or carbon steel.
- Previous welding qualifications in accordance with AWS or ASME codes.
- Proficient in tube/pipe cutting, grinding, and fabrication.
- Knowledge of DC, GTAW welding techniques, and safety precautions.
- Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to adapt to changing roles in a high-paced environment.
Additional Information
- Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral.
- Available to work one of the specified shifts.
- Able to lift up to 30 lbs and perform various physical tasks.
- Able to work outdoors in high heat and humidity.
- Able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
