Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate conventional, specific purpose, manual milling machines, lathes, and grinders to fabricate metallic parts.
  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, documents, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for machining.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials on machines.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
  • Start and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust controls as required.
  • Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications using calipers, micrometers, and indicators.
  • Set up and operate machine to verify accuracy of machine settings before making final cuts.
  • Install machine replacement parts in mechanisms and test operation to ensure functionality.
  • Set up and use Elox machine to remove broken taps, drills, or other damaged tooling.
  • Develop specifications from general descriptions and draw sketches of parts or products to be fabricated.
  • Confer with engineers and production personnel to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary to help the plant achieve goals.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and any shift.
  • Associate’s degree in Machine Tool Technology.
  • Ability to use complicated drawings.
  • Ability to do advanced mathematics and handbook formulae.
  • Ability to use complicated measuring tools.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical principles.
  • 3 years minimum Machinist experience preferred.
