Overview
The Mechanic C position at Valley Metro involves performing preventative maintenance inspections and minor repairs on transportation vehicles. The role requires a basic understanding of various vehicle systems and a commitment to safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections on all types and classes of coaches.
- Diagnose and repair minor coach problems.
- Assist other mechanics and ensure a safe work environment.
- Review repair manuals and part manuals for aid in making minor repairs.
- Inspect and verify problems on coaches using various diagnostic equipment.
- Clean, repair, and replace coach equipment as required.
- Test coaches for proper working order including road driving tests.
- Fill out work orders specifying parts and labor.
- Sweep and clean work area, ensuring a safe work environment.
Requirements
- One year of progressive heavy equipment maintenance experience required.
- Entry level understanding of all systems onboard fleet transportation vehicles.
- Understanding of air conditioning, brakes, engine, transmission, suspension, steering, electrical, fuel, lubrication, and differentials.
- Knowledge of all Preventive Maintenance Procedures: A, B, C.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Driver's license required.
- Experience with diagnostic computer equipment required.
- Basic understanding of medium to heavy duty braking systems.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to perform physical activities including lifting up to seventy-five pounds.
- Must be flexible and work in a 24/7 environment.
- Must be able to obtain a CA Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B with passenger endorsement.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
