Overview

UCT is seeking a Welding Supervisor for the 2nd shift in Chandler, AZ, to lead daily welding operations in the semiconductor industry. The role focuses on ensuring safe, high-quality production while managing workforce performance and driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all production welding related issues for the site.
  • Oversee day-to-day welding activities including priorities, capacity planning, and headcount assessments.
  • Ensure factory weld shop performance in terms of 6S, on-time delivery, quality, weld count, and cost.
  • Initiate and implement Manufacturing Process Capability and Continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Review and optimize weld shop design for efficiency.
  • Drive continuous culture improvement throughout the welding process.
  • Develop and maintain training and certification programs for welding team members.
  • Hire, train, and develop weld shop personnel.
  • Collaborate with support organizations to resolve customer issues and expedite material shortages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering discipline/equivalent; APICS/CPIM certification preferred.
  • 5+ years direct experience with orbital welding for the semiconductor industry.
  • 1+ years of directly related Engineering experience preferably in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Proven strong team building and personnel development experience.
  • Gas/liquid delivery systems experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of quick-turn, engineer-to-order environment a plus.
  • Working understanding of AWS and SEMI requirements for high purity welding.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols.
  • Ability to develop weld programs and make adjustments to achieve desired results.
  • Excellent management, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Strong technical leadership and semiconductor equipment knowledge desired.
  • Strong experience with Process Control and engineering tools preferred.
  • Strong understanding of factory utilization and production efficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP applications a plus.
  • Ability to work long hours as needed.

  • Work may require the ability to lift 10-20 pounds infrequently.
  • Ability to talk on the phone and use a computer for extended periods may be required.
  • May involve exposure to moderate noise levels.
  • Work may require out of town travel depending upon assignment.
