Responsibilities
- Fabricates plastic rods, slabs, and sheets in accordance with Shop Orders.
- Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
- Reads and interprets Shop Orders.
- Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
- Uses precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathes, vertical milling machines, drill presses, chop saws, band saws, and planers.
- Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machine.
- Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling.
- Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
- Evaluates experimental procedures and recommends change or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
- Possesses ability to track parts and jobs.
- Utilizes and abides by all safety procedures.
- Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.
Requirements
- Operation of manual lathes, drill presses and other standard job shop machines.
- Must understand materials, cutting tools, speeds and feeds and machining techniques.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Mechanical ability.
- Proper use of hand and power tools.
- Basic awareness of electricity and the risks attached.
- Responsible for personal safety and the safety of those around him/her.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- At least two (2) years experience in a job shop atmosphere.
- Knowledge in the safe operation of horizontal lathes of all sizes, portable resurfacing machines and drill presses.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
