Overview
The Maintenance Repairman 2 position at the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) offers a rewarding opportunity to utilize technical craftsmanship in maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for veterans. This role involves performing comprehensive repairs and upkeep for buildings, grounds, and equipment, contributing to the well-being of residents.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive repairs and upkeep for buildings, grounds, and equipment.
- Conduct skilled carpentry including repairing doors and fabricating partitions.
- Install and maintain electrical circuits, lighting, and motors.
- Manage plumbing systems by installing fixtures, clearing drains, and maintaining steam and water lines.
- Service heating and air-conditioning units, repair commercial kitchen appliances, and maintain refrigeration systems.
- Perform masonry work for foundations and walkways, and repair roofs and gutters.
- Ensure consistent upkeep of the facility's lawns.
Requirements
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 or equivalent.
- Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work involving at least two trades.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
- Willingness and ability to work in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.

- Full-time employment (7.5 hours per day; 37.5 hours per week).
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (1st shift), rotating days and weekends.
