Overview
The Air Conditioning Mechanic II position in the Facilities Management Services at the Atlanta Campus involves skilled manual work in the repair and installation of HVAC systems. Responsibilities
- Overhauls and services refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating units by repairing or replacing worn parts.
- Inspects equipment for needed repairs and performs routine maintenance.
- Tests refrigeration units for leaks and adds gas to refrigeration units.
- Monitors valves and gauges to ensure proper operation and adjusts valves, pipes, etc., as needed.
- Changes and cleans oil and air filters.
- Operates Centrifugal and Reciprocating chillers.
- Assists in installing air conditioning and heating units and related equipment.
- May assist in training lower-level employees.
- Cleans work areas and equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Technical or vocational degree and two years of HVAC experience, a high school diploma or GED and four years of HVAC experience, or a combination of education and related experience.
- Knowledge of procedures, tools, and equipment used in the HVAC trade.
- Practical oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to access confined spaces.
- Ability to work in open areas, such as rooftops.
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds.
- Ability to operate tools and equipment used in the HVAC trade.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to multi-task, pay attention to detail, train and supervise staff, lift approximately 50 pounds, exhibit excellent customer service, and interpret building drawings.
