Overview
As an Upfit Technician I, you will perform a variety of high-level activities related to truck body and trailers, including diagnosing and repairing electrical and hydraulic issues, disassembling and reassembling truck bodies, and ensuring compliance with safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Follow all Wabash WPO guidelines and attain all required certifications.
- Work in a team environment.
- Perform repairs and procedures in a safe and timely manner.
- Operate pneumatic and battery-powered cordless tools.
- Read basic drawings and prints.
- Operate lifting devices such as forklifts and stackers.
- Apply adhesives and mechanical fasteners, operate sanders, and apply light duty paint material.
- Operate saws and drill press equipment.
- Record part numbers on work orders.
- Have a basic understanding of 12v or automotive electrical systems.
- Read the work order completely before beginning an assignment and check the VIN on the vehicle.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
- Advanced mechanical and 12v electrical skills with welding experience.
- Experience in truck body or equipment manufacturing repair.
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with minimal supervision.
- Capability to work off scaffolding up to ten to twelve feet.
- Must have a current driver’s license.

Additional Information
- Requires a minimum of eight hours standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
- Regularly required to lift and carry up to 35 pounds and frequently up to 55 pounds.
- Must be able to work in environments requiring the use of ladders, stairs, and tight spaces.
