Overview

As an Upfit Technician I, you will perform a variety of high-level activities related to truck body and trailers, including diagnosing and repairing electrical and hydraulic issues, disassembling and reassembling truck bodies, and ensuring compliance with safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Wabash WPO guidelines and attain all required certifications.
  • Work in a team environment.
  • Perform repairs and procedures in a safe and timely manner.
  • Operate pneumatic and battery-powered cordless tools.
  • Read basic drawings and prints.
  • Operate lifting devices such as forklifts and stackers.
  • Apply adhesives and mechanical fasteners, operate sanders, and apply light duty paint material.
  • Operate saws and drill press equipment.
  • Record part numbers on work orders.
  • Have a basic understanding of 12v or automotive electrical systems.
  • Read the work order completely before beginning an assignment and check the VIN on the vehicle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced mechanical and 12v electrical skills with welding experience.
  • Experience in truck body or equipment manufacturing repair.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with minimal supervision.
  • Capability to work off scaffolding up to ten to twelve feet.
  • Must have a current driver’s license.

Additional Information

  • Requires a minimum of eight hours standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Regularly required to lift and carry up to 35 pounds and frequently up to 55 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in environments requiring the use of ladders, stairs, and tight spaces.
