Overview
The Structural Welder Journeyman is responsible for planning, laying out, welding, installing, and repairing various structural steel products according to specifications and industry standards. This position requires intermediate experience and involves working in a construction environment with exposure to various conditions.
Responsibilities
- Set-up, troubleshoot and operate welding machines according to job specifications and welding procedures.
- Preheat and weld metal components as specified by blueprints, welding symbols, job specifications, or welding procedures.
- Weld using various processes including FCAW-S, FCAW-G, TGAW, GMAW, SMAW, and SAW.
- Operate air arc gouger, grinder, stress relieving machine, and other industry machines, tools and equipment.
- Make welding repairs and address substandard welds.
Requirements
- May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous experience in the field or a related area.
- Must possess working knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
- Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.
