Overview
The Welder/Fabricator position in Dickinson, ND involves performing high-quality cuts and welds on various metal structures while working from engineering drawings and specifications. The role requires a commitment to safety and quality in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate, fit-up and weld pressure vessels, structural steel assemblies, gates, cattle guards, etc.
- Prepare weld joints to proper dimensions, including grinding, gouging and cleaning to ensure sound weld quality.
- Weld structural and process piping in multiple positions.
- Fit and tack pipe spools, install flanges, elbows, tees, and other fittings per drawings.
- Fabricate and weld structural steel assemblies including frames, skids, platforms, ladders, handrails, brackets and supports.
- Perform fit-up and assembly of structural members using squares, levels, clamps and fixtures to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Support hydrostatic testing, pneumatic testing, and NDE activities as required.
- Perform visual weld inspections and dimensional checks on completed work prior to QC inspection.
- Maintain welder qualification records and perform continuity welds as required to keep qualification current.
- Clean and maintain work areas, tools and equipment at the end of each shift, maintaining a safe, organized shop environment.
- Comply with all safety policies, codes and regulations to protect the safety and health of all employees.
- Follow directions of the Supervisor.
- Arrive for work before your scheduled shift, prepared and ready to start work.
- Perform other job duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Applicant must be 18 years or older.
- Must pass a weld test.
- Must be able to read measurements and perform basic math for measurements and tolerances.
- Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend and perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
- Report to work as scheduled.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to develop and maintain strong work relations with team.
- Must have effective communication skills.

- Must pass a Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol screening, participate in the random testing pool and remain drug & alcohol free throughout employment.
- Must pass a motor vehicle record check and background check.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience operating forklift/crane preferred.
Additional Information
- This is a full-time position.
- This position regularly requires long hours, after hours and weekend work as job duties demand.
- The work environment regularly involves exposure to welding fumes, arc flash, heat, noise above 85 db, and heavy fabricated materials.
- Proper PPE is required at all times in designated areas.
- Occasional outdoor work may be required for rework.
