The Welding Technician position at the WV Parkways Authority in Raleigh County, located in Beckley, WV, involves performing welding tasks and supervising apprentice technicians. The role requires proficiency in various welding methods and equipment, as well as the ability to lead and train others.

Responsibilities

• Answer directly to the Fleet Manager.
• Perform welding tasks at a proficient level.
• Lead, guide, and train Apprentice Technicians.
• Plan, layout, and supervise the work of skilled and unskilled workers.
• Operate Parkways Radio.
• Complete operations daily report and work & purchase orders.
• Light torches and set gauges.
• Weld and braze mild steel.
• Use diesel-powered welder and electrical welders.
• Operate band saw, grinder, boom of welding truck, track torch, and plasma torch.
• Use aluminum/MIG welder.
• Change hydraulic hoses and perform maintenance on hydraulic systems.
• Perform snow and ice removal duties as needed.
• Flag and maintain small equipment such as mowers and weed eaters.
• Complete any other assigned duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have Call B CDL's.
• Must pass a background check.
• Completed a form of apprenticeship with at least 3 years of experience in welding.
• Certified by the WV Dept. of Education of Vocational Technical Adult Education for the WV Welding Certification Test.
