Overview
Dorney Park is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Ride Mechanic / welder to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on our world-class rides and attractions. Responsibilities
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and other scheduled inspections of rides and attractions.
- Use visual and auditory techniques to assess equipment condition and address issues through corrective maintenance.
- Execute preventative and unscheduled maintenance, including repairs and replacements of components like hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, gears, chains, sprockets, brakes, clutches, wheels, bearings, springs, gearboxes, hoses, and other mechanical parts.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
- Communicate ride status and issues clearly to supervisors and team members.
- Operate equipment such as lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, and welding tools (MIG, TIG, Arc) as needed.
- Interpret and apply information from blueprints and manufacturer manuals.
- Ensure compliance with safety codes, standards, and Kings Island operational policies.
- Weld items as specified by layout, blue prints, weld procedures, diagrams, work orders, and oral directions.
- Weld in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Clean and degrease weld joints or work pieces using brush, grinder, or chemicals.
- Prepare broken parts by grooving or scarfing surfaces.
- Capable of positioning work piece using clamps or jigs.
- Able to follow all company policies, rules, and regulations.
- Perform Ride Mechanic duties when welding is not available.
- Other duties as described by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Valid state driver's license required.
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in amusement, manufacturing, or industrial settings.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical principles (gear ratios, torque, tool use, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of power transmission components (bearings, bushings, couplers, etc.).
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and service manuals.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, team-oriented environments.
- Capable of working at heights up to 300 feet, in all weather conditions.
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Able to pass company required performance tests including 6G weld test in 2" and 8" steel pipe within 60 days of employment.
