Overview

Austin Industrial is a leading provider of self-perform maintenance, construction, and soft craft services to industrial companies across the U.S. The Pipefitter/Ironworker role involves laying out, assembling, installing, and maintaining pipe systems and structural steel members.

Responsibilities

• Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications using tools such as saws and pipe threaders.
• Attach pipes to walls and structures using brackets, clamps, and welding equipment.
• Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
• Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.
• Select pipe sizes and types and related materials according to specifications.
• Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems and related machines using hand and power tools.
• Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems.
• Turn valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections.
• Remove and replace worn components.
• Inspect work sites for obstructions and structural weaknesses.
• Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded areas.
• Dip nonferrous piping materials in a protective coating.
• Read blueprints and select required materials for construction.
• Set up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members.
• Fasten steel members to hoist cables using chains or ropes.
• Guide lifted structures into position and align rivet holes.
• Drive drift pins through rivet holes.
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials during installation.
• Verify vertical and horizontal alignment using plumb bob and level.
• Bolt aligned structures to keep them in position until permanently secured.

Requirements

• No minimum education requirements.
• 4 years of Journeyman-level experience.
• Certifications required: NCCER, TWIC Card, and a Valid Driver’s License.
