Overview

Bechtel is seeking a Lead Welding Field Engineer to manage field and subcontractor welding programs, ensuring compliance and resource availability for planned work scopes. Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain Bechtel Field Welding program.
  • Provide specialized welding engineering support for construction.
  • Assist in managing the pre- and post-weld heat treatment program.
  • Manage the rod room to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Schedule and coordinate NDE with construction and subcontractors.
  • Monitor the welding test lab to ensure quality welder testing.
  • Review and update weld documents for credibility and accountability.
  • Manage welder qualifications and stamps.
  • Perform field inspections of welding work and advise on quality issues.
  • Lead subcontractors and direct hire Pre/PWHT program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or international equivalent and 10-13 years of relevant experience, or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
  • NDE Certifications including PT, MT, and LT (Vac Box).
  • Knowledge of AWS, API, NFPA, AWWA, ASTM, and ASNT codes.
  • Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and/or certifications in SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW.
  • Intermediate understanding of Preheat/Post weld heat treatment.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate team members in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to problem-solve in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience on an LNG construction site along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
  • Strong technical background in LNG welding applications and methods.
  • Understanding of Bechtel work processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of Piping Design Drawings/Specifications.
  • Must be certifiable as NDE Level II Visual Examination.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel's Welding Program and related documentation.
  • Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs).
