Overview
The Line Mechanic is responsible for performing major and minor mechanical repairs on District vehicles to ensure their proper performance and safety. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and various certifications related to vehicle maintenance and repair.
Responsibilities
- Perform major and minor mechanical repairs with minimum supervision.
- Ensure proper performance and safety of District vehicles.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid license/certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
- Texas commercial driver's license (Class B or A) with 'P' and 'S' endorsements.
- Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver Certification.
- Current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or Texas Association of School Bus Technicians (TASBT) certification in Diesel Engine Repair.
- One additional current ASE or TASBT certification in either Medium/Heavy Duty Truck or School Bus.
- Master Technician Certification, preferred.
- State of Texas Vehicle Safety Inspector License, preferred.
- Ability to pass Texas Department of Public Safety school bus driver physical exam.
- Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests.
- Must be able to pass criminal history check and MVR driving record check.
- Ability to operate a school bus.
- Proficiently read, write, and communicate verbally in English.
- Two or more years' experience in auto/truck maintenance and repair.
