Job Description

Overview

The Utility Service Technician position is responsible for assisting with repairs and maintenance of water distribution, wastewater collection, and water production systems for the city. This includes performing repairs to water and sewer lines, conducting preventative maintenance, and responding to customer service calls, all while ensuring job site safety.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs to water lines by responding to leaks, identifying sources, and ensuring job site safety.
  • Conduct repairs to sewer lines while avoiding damage to other utilities and maintaining a safe job site.
  • Respond to customer service calls for water and sewer issues, deploying with adequate equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on sewer lines using various methods including CCTV inspections.
  • Assist with installation of sewer and water taps by exposing mains and testing for leaks.
  • Conduct repairs to hydrants and valves, ensuring they are operational before service.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of related experience in repairs and maintenance of water and wastewater lines preferred.
  • Valid Class A Driver's License with a tanker endorsement required within 30 days of employment.
  • Class I Collections License required within 6 months and Class C Distribution or Class II Collections License within 30 months of employment.
