Overview

Join our dynamic team! We're seeking individuals to operate heavy equipment for various construction and maintenance operations within the City. Be part of a crucial on-call rotation for emergency responses.

Responsibilities

  • Perform heavy equipment operations to repair water lines by excavating and restoring the water line.
  • Repair sewer lines by excavating and restoring the sewer line while avoiding damage to other utilities.
  • Provide traffic control by directing traffic at work sites and communicating safety rules to customers.
  • Maintain equipment by inspecting for damage and performing preventative maintenance.
  • Complete administrative duties including preparing daily work orders and monitoring equipment inventories.
  • Monitor project work to ensure a safe working environment and secure needed materials and equipment.
  • Act as crew leader in the absence of a supervisor by observing and monitoring work tasks.
  • Conduct repairs to hydrants and valves by isolating and assessing damages for repair.
  • Complete installation of sewer and water taps by assisting with installation services.
  • Perform preventative maintenance by removing obstructions in sewer lines and conducting CCTV inspections.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager.

Requirements

  • Training beyond high school, which could include some college hours, technical school, or correspondence course.
  • 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Valid Class A CDL Driver's License with a tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Class D Water Distribution certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Class I Collections certification within 1 year of employment.
  • Class C Water Distribution certification within 2 years of employment.

  • Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality for the assigned work hours is essential.
