Overview
HII's Ingalls Shipbuilding Division is seeking a Structural Welder Work Leader to assist supervisors with job assignments and train craft personnel. The company is a major contributor to the economic growth of Mississippi and Alabama, specializing in building and maintaining naval ships for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.
Responsibilities
- Assist supervisors with job assignments of craft workers.
- Train craft personnel.
- Work on tools as a journeyman within specified craft.
- Substitute for foreman when unavailable.
Requirements
- Must be a current employee of HII-Ingalls.
- 1 year active experience as a Structural Welding journeyman at Ingalls, or a graduate of Structural Welding apprenticeship program, or 3+ years of documented journeyman experience in Structural Welding.
- Superior attendance and disciplinary record.
- Cannot have more than 3 unexcused absences in the last 180 days.
- Cannot have any safety DANS that result in a disciplinary layoff in the last 180 days.
- Cannot have more than 2 total DANS in the last 180 days (excluding lost tool).
- Currently classified as a Structural Welding Journeyman.
- Willing and able to work any shift assigned.
- Documented leadership qualities/experience.
- Safety proponent.
- Timely completion of assignments.
