Overview
The Lead Composite Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, bonding, and finishing composite components while providing leadership to technicians in a company that designs and manufactures thermal solutions for various sectors including aerospace and defense.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, bond, and finish composite parts and subassemblies
- Perform secondary bonding, hardware installation, drilling, trimming, and sanding
- Prepare and apply structural adhesives per specifications
- Interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality requirements
- Complete manufacturing documentation and support rework activities
- Lead and mentor technicians, assign daily tasks, and troubleshoot assembly issues
- Coordinate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to maintain schedules and resolve problems
- Promote a safe, organized, and quality-focused work environment
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings
- Experience with hand tools, measuring equipment, and bonding processes
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Effective leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with adhesive bonding and surface preparation techniques preferred
- Ability to safely work with chemicals and adhesives
