Overview
ICF is seeking a Substation Civil Structural Engineer with experience in electric utility substation design engineering and reviews. This role involves collaboration with a design team to support utility-level substation and renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop engineering design drawing and calculation packages from conceptual phase through detailed design.
- Perform design reviews of civil/structural design components for substation projects.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, including storm water and SPCC requirements.
- Conduct site design activities such as grading plans and water flow calculations for erosion control.
- Regularly perform design reviews and contribute to the development of junior staff.
- Participate in bids and proposal development.
- Occasionally visit client substation facilities and travel for client meetings and industry events.
- Provide design support to field personnel during project construction.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in electric utility substation design engineering and reviews.
- PE License in the State of California.
- Strong background in design of steel and concrete structures, site grading, and geotechnical engineering.
- Experience designing and reviewing substation civil & structure design in seismic areas.
- Familiarity with surveying, geotechnical, and construction specifications.
- Experience with STAAD.Pro, RISA 3D, FAD Tools, SAFE, SAG10, and LPile software.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation.
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
- Team player with client communication experience.
