Overview

The Jr Designer within the Central Engineering organization will perform structural design calculations and create construction drawings for building modifications and station upgrades, including equipment foundations and structural steel framing. This role also involves completing associated calculations and creating sketches and drawing packages.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural design calculations and create construction drawings for building modifications and station upgrades.
• Complete associated structural and/or site calculations related to designs.
• Read and understand drawings, notes, symbols, acronyms, and notations.
• Utilize AutoCAD to create or revise drawings.
• Collaborate with project team members and stakeholders.
• Apply civil engineering software and calculations.
• Organize information and prepare technical documents.
• Create conceptual and/or construction sketches, as-builts, test-pit requests, and sub-surface drawing packages.
• Search for and retrieve print files from the Drawing Management System.
• Create new and revise existing drawings through the drawing approval process.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and 2 years experience in Civil engineering and design or Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering or applicable civil discipline technical degree.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited University preferred.
• Engineering In Training Certification preferred.
• Knowledgeable in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering principles and practices.
• Familiar with industry and manufactured structural and architectural products.
• Ability to perform drafting and design in AutoCAD 2D and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Capable of designing and issuing engineering drawings and calculations compliant with codes.
• Well organized and detail-oriented with problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to excellence and exemplary customer service.
• Ability to read and prepare civil, structural, and architectural drawings.
• Fluency with project management and construction drawing processes.
• Familiarity with drawing management systems.
