Overview
The Carpenter position at Mount Sinai West involves constructing, maintaining, and repairing structured woodwork and special equipment, while operating woodworking machinery. Responsibilities
- Constructs, maintains, installs, and repairs structural woodwork and specialty items.
- Builds special equipment from wood or other materials, such as display racks and shelves.
- Erects scaffolding and builds forms for concrete pouring.
- Measures, saws, squares, fits, sands, and nails for construction or repair.
- Operates power woodworking machinery to cut and fashion parts of furniture and fixtures.
- Calculates measurements, angles, and curves as required.
- Installs wall and ceiling systems based on blueprint drawings.
- Creates millwork based on blueprint drawings and is proficient in millwork design standards.
- Customizes and installs solid-surface products like Formica and Corian.
- Cleans work areas, tools, equipment, and machines.
- Moves, crates, and uncrates equipment, ensuring work cart is supplied.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- 5 years of experience in carpentry; trade or vocational school graduation may reduce this to 4 years.
- Certification for powder-actuated cartridge tools.
- Ability to utilize tablet-based computer systems.
