Overview

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is a national engineering firm focused on providing holistic solutions for complex challenges in building technology. They are seeking a passionate Engineer In Training to join their NYC office, specifically targeting recent and upcoming graduates in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with new design, evaluation, investigation, and design of repairs for existing buildings under the direction of a licensed engineer.
  • Climb ladders and scaffolds and work at great heights.
  • Travel by car to multiple job sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering.
  • 0 to 5 years of experience, EIT preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in building construction and solving engineering problems.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and enthusiasm for the work.
  • Experience in building construction or an allied field, industrial rope access, mechanical repair, AutoCAD, or Revit is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with excellent writing and oral skills.
  • Problem-solving capability using data, logic, judgment, and problem-solving tools.
  • Self-starter with accountability and responsibility.
  • Ability to work as part of a team towards shared goals.
  • Willingness to learn new ideas and concepts.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
