Overview
WSP is seeking an Inspector/Superintendent to support the MTA’s Small Business Mentoring Program in the New York Metro Area, focusing on enhancing the capabilities of construction contractors through training and mentorship. This role involves overseeing construction work, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and fostering economic growth in disadvantaged communities.
Responsibilities
- Independently oversee multiple construction sites to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
- Conduct comprehensive inspection services with a focus on concrete operations.
- Attend daily project meetings to maintain effective communication and ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Prepare detailed daily reports documenting work performed and project progress.
- Support project staff in field tests and review submittals for compliance.
- Coordinate with MTA personnel for site inspections and overall project management.
- Verify and calculate quantity payment items for contract payment processes.
- Address field concerns and resolve schedule impacts in collaboration with project management.
- Work proactively with contractors to minimize public disruptions.
- Mentor MTA Small Business Contractors to ensure project completion requirements are met.
- Work in diverse railroad construction environments under various weather conditions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent educational credential.
- Minimum of nine years of progressive professional experience in construction inspection.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience managing or monitoring at least two construction projects valued at over one million dollars.
- Comprehensive experience working on infrastructure projects.
- Proficient in interpreting contract documents and specifications.
- Ability to document and report project issues using Electronic Project Management platforms.
- Formal training and practical experience in safety protocols and quality assurance processes.
- Established history of upholding workplace safety standards.

Additional Information
