Overview
Thea Energy is a company focused on commercializing fusion energy through innovative stellarator technology. They are seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to support the construction, installation, and testing of electrical systems for the Eos Stellarator, collaborating with engineers to implement advanced power concepts.
Responsibilities
- Build and wire power supplies, energy storage systems, custom embedded control boards, and high-current AC-DC converters for HTS magnets.
- Support the physical installation and cabling of MV/LV switchgear, transformers, distribution panels, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Assist in integrating auxiliary electrical systems and balance-of-plant (BoP) infrastructure, providing electrical connections for cryogenics, vacuum, cooling, and HVAC systems.
- Set up testbeds and perform hardware bring-up, signal probing, and parameter optimization under staged load conditions.
- Perform board-level debugging, soldering, and rework on custom printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Read, interpret, and provide field markups for single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in Electrical Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as an electrical technician in industrial, R&D, or high-power environments.
- Proven experience building, wiring, and installing electrical distribution panels, power supplies, and control cabinets.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including schematics, P&IDs, and single-line diagrams.
- Proficiency with lab measurement tools, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and electronic loads.
- Strong understanding of strict electrical safety standards, including LOTO protocols and NFPA 70E / NEC.

Additional Information
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time.
- Willingness to occasionally travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call.
- Ability to work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics.
