Overview

TYLin is a globally recognized, full-service infrastructure consulting firm seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their Rail + Transit Structural Engineering team in New York City. This role is ideal for an experienced structural professional who values technical excellence and mentorship while contributing to complex transit infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level structural design and technical input for major rail + transit facilities.
• Serve as a trusted technical resource on project teams, supporting design decisions and resolving complex structural challenges.
• Produce and review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and designers.
• Begin leading structural tasks and project components independently.
• Perform structural analysis and design using steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry systems.
• Support field investigations, condition assessments, and feasibility studies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary partners to integrate structural solutions.
• Participate in client coordination meetings, contributing technical expertise.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 10+ years of structural engineering experience focused on rail, transit, transportation, or industrial facilities.
• Experience delivering structural designs for major transit agencies such as MTA C&D, Amtrak, LIRR, Metro-North.
• Strong technical command of steel and concrete structural systems and familiarity with applicable codes and standards.
• Proficiency with structural analysis tools such as SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, or similar.
• Experience working in BIM/CAD environments including Revit, MicroStation, AutoCAD.
• New York PE license required.
• Strong communication skills and ability to partner effectively with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• A passion for design quality and mentorship.
