Overview

The Construction Field Superintendent position focuses on managing heavy industrial and power generation construction projects in Central New Jersey, requiring approximately 30% travel to active sites. The role involves overseeing various phases of construction, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance while leading subcontractors and project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead field operations for industrial and power generation construction projects
  • Manage subcontractors, field crews, commissioning teams, suppliers, and client interfaces
  • Oversee commissioning and startup activities for mechanical and process systems
  • Review engineering packages, erection drawings, and construction documentation for constructability and compliance
  • Prepare RFQs, evaluate construction bids, and support project execution planning
  • Monitor safety, quality, schedule, productivity, and contractual milestones across multiple sites
  • Maintain detailed site documentation including RFIs, NCRs, reports, schedules, punch lists, and correspondence
  • Produce clear field reports, progress updates, risk assessments, and technical documentation
  • Support hiring, mentoring, and development of project personnel
  • Participate in constructability reviews and client-facing project discussions

Requirements

  • US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency Required
  • 10+ years of field construction management experience within power generation, EPC, OEM, process plant, refinery, petrochemical, LNG, energy storage, or heavy industrial environments
  • Prior experience as a Superintendent and/or Field Engineer strongly preferred
  • Strong background with structural steel erection, rotating equipment installation, ducting/stacks, pumps, fans, gearboxes, or large industrial mechanical systems
  • Experience overseeing erection, commissioning, startup, punch list, and warranty phases
  • Strong understanding of ASME, B31.1, AWS, AISC, OSHA, QA/QC, and commissioning standards
  • Ability to interpret contracts, engineering drawings, specifications, schedules, and construction documentation
  • Experience managing subcontractors, change orders, RFIs, NCRs, back charges, and dispute resolution
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field preferred; equivalent industry experience acceptable
