Overview

Bowman has an opportunity for an Engineer III, Ports & Harbors to join our team in various locations across the United States. The role involves leading the analysis, design, and inspection of waterfront and heavy industrial engineering projects, contributing to a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work under very limited supervision requiring independent judgement.
  • Serve as a lead/resource among colleagues to share technical proficiency and mentorship.
  • Assist with marketing the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques on complex projects.
  • Lead planning, design, permitting, and construction support for structural projects.
  • Complete engineering design and drawing work using computer-aided software.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence concerning project direction.
  • Direct and perform field structural investigations and develop technical reports.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, structural inspections, and detailed design work.
  • Perform frequent site visits to monitor construction and lead inspections.
  • Review drawings and technical submittals for office construction support.
  • Attend meetings with clients and contractors to ensure project completion.
  • Review plans and prepare technical specifications and contract documents.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest technical developments in structural engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering or related field required.
  • Master's degree in structural engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in marine infrastructure.
  • E.I.T. registration preferred.
  • Professional registration preferred.
  • Working knowledge of engineering design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, STAAD, or Revit.
  • Familiarity with ASCE, AISC, ACI, AWS, and other relevant codes and standards.
  • Working knowledge of construction plans.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
  • Valid state driver's license or reliable transportation preferred.
