Overview
The Welding Worker Training Leader position is located at a Forest Service Civilian Conservation Center, where the incumbent is responsible for leading and instructing advanced Welding students in both on-site and off-site projects as part of a vocational skills training program.
Responsibilities
- Leads 3 or more advanced Welding students in performance of related projects.
- Instructs and demonstrates basic and advanced welding processes using electric, acetylene, and inert gas shielded welding.
- Teaches proper planning and layout of work, positioning, clamping, and pre-heating metal.
- Instructs on the use of templates, jigs, blueprints, and symbols for welding.
- Teaches proper setup of welding equipment, including adjustments for amperage and gas flow.
- Instructs on pre-heating, brazing, bead welding, tack welding, flame cutting, pressure welding, and heat treating.
- Teaches selection of type of rod and size of tip for welding, maintaining proper speed and position.
- Implements on-the-job and classroom training programs utilizing specific Welding TAR competencies.
