Job Description

Overview

Currently seeking fitter/welders on the west side of Cleveland. The Fitter/Welder will need to have manual dexterity and the ability to use hand and power tools as needed, with various welding equipment such as MIG, TIG, stick welders, air arc machines, and cutting torches.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications.
  • Determine required equipment, welding method, and welding techniques.
  • Develop templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
  • Ignite torch and adjust valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
  • Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies.
  • Heat, form, and dress metal parts using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Remove rough spots from work piece using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
  • Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Follow blueprints to arrange metal pieces and temporarily fix them into position before welding.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Make recommendations for process improvements.
  • Perform equipment inspections prior to use.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the Plant and/or Maintenance Manager.
  • Work accordingly to meet Safety and Quality goals.
  • Work with team to balance workload to meet On Time Delivery goals.
  • Manage company resources to ensure budgetary integrity and client satisfaction.
  • Deburr and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture.
  • Maintain professionalism in speech and action at all times.
  • Follow all company policies.
