Overview

Valmont is seeking a motivated Welder for their Columbus facility to fabricate and repair metal components. The company is a Fortune 1000 organization focused on advancing agricultural productivity and infrastructure to improve lives globally.

Responsibilities

  • Weld metal components together according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders using various welding equipment.
  • Work from blueprints and layouts to accurately fit structural parts together in preparation for welding.
  • Lay out guidelines or marks on metal parts and cut metal with a cutting torch.
  • Weld metal structural components together in the fabrication of steel electrical poles and substations.
  • Adjust welding equipment to its prescribed settings.
  • Move pole shafts using an overhead crane and gather parts and materials for projects.
  • Utilize all safety devices and wear mandatory personal protective equipment.
  • Perform other duties as directed by leaders and management.
  • Actively participate in department safety and demonstrate excellent safety practices.

Requirements

  • Must have welding experience, preferably MIG welding.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Must excel in a team environment.
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to communicate and interact positively with coworkers.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Must maintain an acceptable level of production, quality, and attendance.

Additional Information

  • Training will be Monday through Thursday from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm.
  • Position works 12-hour shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
