Overview

Valmont is a Fortune 1000 company focused on advancing agricultural productivity and infrastructure. The Large Pole Fitter Welder assembles products by tack welding various parts to pole shafts using different welding processes under the supervision of the Production Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Assembles pole products by tack welding small components using GMAW and SAW processes.
• Positions shafts for assembly using a stationary turner and jib crane.
• Reads and interprets drawings to gather parts needed for assembly.
• Cuts steel using a plasma torch and utilizes jigs for precision.
• Measures distances and angles using tools like measuring tape and levels.
• Works in confined areas to accurately measure and assemble components.
• Operates motorized grinders, buffers, and drills to assist in assembly.
• Maintains professional competencies and training for the job.
• Keeps the workplace clean and organized while implementing LEAN practices.
• Sets up and performs general maintenance of equipment.

Requirements

• Must be able to read and write English.
• 3-5 years of experience fitting in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Ability to calculate simple mathematics and use common manufacturing mathematics.
• 3 years experience reading and using blueprints.
• 3 years previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment or graduation from a Technical Training Program in welding.
• Must pass FCAW, GMAW, and SAW weld tests and maintain certification.
• Ability to operate overhead cranes, prior experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
