Overview
AIT is the world's largest provider of automation, factory integration and tooling solutions dedicated to the global aerospace, defense, and space launch vehicle industries. The welder is responsible for operating appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with precision and repairing products that do not meet customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
- Operate and/or use forklift, cranes, hoists, slings, grinders, cutting torches, hand tools, drills, punches, and instruments of measurement.
- Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to welding chart specifications.
- Fill holes, cut, contour, and bevel metal plates and structural shapes to specified dimensions.
- Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or splatter using hand scrapers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.
- Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts as necessary.
- Tig & Mig weld components using various materials such as Aluminum, Steel, and Invar.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associates or Technical School preferred.
- One to three years experience with MIG & TIG welding and fabrication processes.
- Welding Certificates.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and measuring devices.
- Clear and effective communication skills in both written and spoken forms.
- Ability to work in a high energy, high volume, rapidly changing environment.
