Overview

This position is for a Welder at a small, growing manufacturing and overhaul/repair facility in Greenville that has been in operation for over 50 years. The company offers a stable work environment with excellent benefits including health insurance and a 401k plan.

Responsibilities

  • Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material using appropriate welding techniques.
  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process.
  • Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness.
  • Moves material to and from workstation by hand, cart, and crane as required.
  • Uses machinery safely and efficiently, including welders, hand tools, and grinders.
  • Inspects and tests completed units.
  • Reads and interprets schematics, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Interprets routing instructions.
  • Tags or marks identifying information on parts.
  • Greases or lubricates parts as required.
  • Adjusts and grinds down parts if necessary.
  • Inspects parts for flaws and imperfections.
  • Uses calipers and micrometers to measure parts and determine tolerances.
  • Measures dimensions/clearance of parts.
  • Performs basic mathematical calculations.
  • Follows all housekeeping and safety rules.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Welding certification and at least 2 years of MIG or TIG welding experience or equivalent work experience.
  • 6 months experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within welding.
  • Ability to measure and convert metric and US standard.
  • Must be able to read fabrication and assembly blueprints.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and work procedures.
  • Ability for critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Capable of obtaining internal welding certification in MIG and TIG.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • High level knowledge and experience with hand and power tools.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Experience with calipers, micrometers, and other measuring equipment.
  • Some repetitive lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be willing to work in a team environment and take ownership of assembly operations.
  • Must be flexible to work in final and sub-assemblies as required.
  • Able to work with little supervision, is self-motivated, and a self-starter.

Additional Information

  • 1st shift position with some overtime may be required Monday to Friday.
  • First Shift from 7:00am-3:30pm.
  • Paid time off after 3 months and 12 paid holidays per year.
