Overview
The Welder position involves operating welding equipment to fabricate and repair solid waste handling equipment, while ensuring quality and safety standards are met. The role requires maintaining records, inventory, and a clean work environment, as well as assisting other employees.
Responsibilities
- Operate specified welding equipment to fabricate and perform repairs on new and used solid waste handling equipment.
- Repair and prep equipment for painting including painting assigned equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed.
- Maintain inventory of supplies.
- Maintain clean work area in shop or on job site and any assigned vehicles.
- Assist other shop employees with repairs and duties.
- Inspect and maintain assigned hand tools and equipment to ensure they are in working order.
- Ensure quality, efficient and safe completion of all repairs.
- Conform with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Attend safety and branch meetings.
- Provide basic personal tools such as welding shield and hand wrenches.
- Perform other duties as required or requested by management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED desired.
- Certification of basic welding skills and/or two years experience in welding/fabricating.
- Possess a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) preferred.
- Must meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards.
